Waiting around for the post office and chairlift to open at a leisurely 9am when we’ve both been ready to walk since 7. I’m feeling like I may have eaten a little too much over the last two days.
Up the chairlift!
At this point I have to make an apology for the way today’s post goes. The last time I was up here I was ten, and frankly I was blown away by the splendour today. So there’s lots of photos and videos, and not a whole lot of writing.

Mount Kosciuszko.

500 km into the alpine walking track, and finally we get to trudge through some snow!

From Mount Twynam, all of Australia’s peaks above 2000m are visible.

Camp at Anton Anderson saddle, well above the treeline. I tried to make boulders work to string the hammock up, but I struggled to find a good spot and I didn’t like what the granite was doing to my tree straps, so in the end I borrowed Rod’s trekking poles and set up in bivvy mode. Luckily the weather should be okay tonight.

The weather held out nicely today. Unfortunately, it’s not looking like we’ll be so lucky tomorrow or Wednesday. We’re going to try for a very early start tomorrow and see if we can beat most of the rain.
