Zero day – I’m just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round

So far: 515.82km +24,432m -23,624

Did some boot maintenance. I’ve got a whole day to kill and not a lot to fill it with.

The Lowas have developed two small holes in the leather on one foot, probably from rubbing on the eyelet or laces.

And all waxed up:

I use a wax of my own making, consisting of beeswax, mink oil, clove oil and cedarwood oil.

I’m not sure I’d buy Lowas again. They’ve been fine, but for the same (rather expensive) cost I think I prefer Crispis.

The view from the dining area at Redbank Lodge is great for watching the chairlift and mountain bikers coming down the mountain.

I spent some time learning about how a detachable chairlift works. It’s a fairly clever mechanism.

Good fish and chips from the Avalanche Cafe.

I also swapped out my Nitecore 10,000mah battery for a slightly heavier Cygnett. The Nitecore was working fine, but I got a bit spooked by the prevalence of reports from people saying theirs had just stopped working in the middle of a hike. I think it will be nice also to move from three led lights to indicate charge to a digital percentage readout.

I’m getting restless. Time to be walking again.
