It blew a gale all night again, worse by far than last night. I was worried the tarp would pull free of its stakes, but it never did.
Fifteen fairly easy kilometres into Thredbo today.

Finally, after days of boring walking, some nice views and aspects.

Even though the last few days have been shortish and not too steep, I’ve still been feeling them pretty hard. The boring fire trail and lack of views probably contributes to that a bit. I’m feeling a very similar desire for a bit of rest that I was feeling before Hotham.

We detoured 400m up to Dead Horse Gap to retrieve Rod’s resupply cache, then took the Thredbo River walk down to Thredbo. Much nicer than walking along the road.
A shower at the lodge and we were both ready for food. We had lunch and then dinner at The Local. It wasn’t as good as the food at Hotham, but it was better than rehydrated pasta meals. Luckily there are a few more places to eat here. The forecast for the next two days is for storms, then a bit of rain on Monday. Wednesday could see as much as 40mm. We’ll just have to watch the forecast and play it by ear.
Redbank Lodge is spacious and comfortable, and we’re the only ones here. It has a comfortable lounge overlooking the ski slopes, a pool table, drying room, and even a theatre room (though the audiophile in me notes with disdain that they’re just using the TV’s speakers)
