Day 19 – That ain’t workin’, that’s the way you do it

16.65km +735m -889m

Lots of noises in the night. An angry possum went down one of my trees and up the other, then played Marco Polo with another possum for half an hour. Something big and grunty stomped around some distance away.

They said I’d lose weight on this walk, but this is ridiculous!

We had to walk quietly through the middle of the school kids’ tents since they were between us and the exit, and they were all still asleep. Somebody may have quietly planted the above pictured deer skull on a stake in the middle of their camp. That’ll give them something to talk about on the hike out. Serves them right for being so noisy.

Got to camp at Limestone Creek around 2:30. Plenty of day left.

Set up in “lazy afternoon with a chance of showers” mode.

I tried fishing in the creek. Got plenty of nibbles but no bites. Then it seemed the rain would be setting in soon, so I retired to the hammock and had dinner followed by a delicious hot muffin.
